Heavy rains from this afternoon and evening’s severe weather in the OKC Metro area has resulted in flash flooding. For the first time, the NWS Norman has used Flash Flood Emergency language in their warning. I have superimposed the tweet from our good friend and fellow WeatherBrains panelist Rick Smith.

5-8 inches of rain has fallen tonight, with a peak Doppler estimate around 10.8 inches near Bridge Creek.

Officially, 5.70 inches of rain has fallen at OKC, making it the sixth wettest day there.

UPDATE 10:08 PM
Rick reports 6.90 inches at OKC. Very close to their all time record of 7.62 inches on 6/14/10. this ranks as 4th place all time now.
