RADAR CHECK: Showers and storms are confined to the northwest corner of Alabama at daybreak…

We should also note there is a dense fog advisory for parts of Central and South Alabama, where visibilities are very restricted. That fog burns off by mid-morning.

We will project scattered to numerous showers and storms across the state later today and early tonight, but no severe weather issues with the main dynamic forcing passing well to the north of our state. Best chance of showers and storms will come from about 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m…. and the high should be in the low to mid 80s with a few intervals of sunshine possible, much like yesterday.

TOMORROW: A surface boundary will pass through, but with little upper support, and a rather stable airmass, we don’t expect much more than widely scattered showers or storms. Otherwise, expect a mix of sun and clouds tomorrow with a high in the mid 80s.

REST OF THE WEEK: The weather looks mostly dry and warm Wednesday through Friday with highs holding generally in the mid 80s. We do note the European model (ECMWF) pushes unstable air back in here Thursday, suggesting some risk of a few scattered storms, but we will discount that for now.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: Saturday looks warm and dry with a high in the upper 80s, but we will introduce the chance of scattered showers and storms Sunday and Monday. No wash-out, and the sun will be out at times, just be ready for a passing shower or storm from time to time on these two days, much like the weather yesterday.

GULF COAST WEATHER: Looks good through the holiday weekend. About 8 to 10 hours of sunshine each day from Panama City west to Gulf Shores; each day there is a risk of widely scattered showers and storms, but nothing out of the ordinary for late May. Highs on the immediate coast will be in the low 80s, with mid to upper 80s inland. The sea water temperature early this morning at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is 79 degrees.
