Dry Weather Through The Weekend

RADAR CHECK: The band of showers and storms that moved through North/Central Alabama during the pre-dawn hours is working it’s way southward, and is through Montgomery at daybreak.

The showers over South Alabama will weaken and dissipate in coming hours, and a new surge of dry air drops in from the north. We project a good supply of sunshine today with a high in the 77 to 80 degree range this afternoon.

Dry weather continues tomorrow through Friday with sunny, pleasant afternoons and clear cool nights. Highs will be close to 80, but early morning lows will be in the upper 40s tomorrow and Thursday. Typical October weather; it will be hard to find a decent cloud in the sky on these three days.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: A cold front pushes through in dry fashion Friday night, and promises to bring the coolest air so far this season to the state over the weekend. Highs will drop to near 70 degrees Saturday and Sunday, with lows well down in the 40s. The GFS is printing a low of 44 degrees for Birmingham at daybreak Sunday, and some of the colder pockets across North and Central Alabama have a good chance of seeing upper 30s. No moisture means sunshine in full supply both days.

NEXT WEEK: Dry weather continues for the first half of the week, but the GFS continues to advertise a decent rain event toward the end of the week with an approaching cold front, and a possible tropical low moving up from the south. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

Alabama plays at Texas A&M Saturday (2:30p CT kickoff)… in College Station the sky will be sunny, with about 85 degrees at kickoff. Temperatures will fall into the upper 70s by the final whistle.

AT THE BEACH: A few widely scattered showers are possible on the coast today from Gulf Shores east to Panama City Beach, otherwise mostly sunny days and fair nights thorough the weekend with highs generally in the 70s and lows in the 60s. See the complete Gulf Coast 7 Day Planner here. The Gulf Coast Beach Forecast is presented by Gulf Shores Plantation by Mandoki Hospitality Vacation Rentals.
