Sunshine Returns Later Today

| November 10, 2015 @ 6:24 am

BRIGHTER AND WARMER: Low clouds and fog still cover Alabama early this morning at daybreak, but bone crushing subsidence today will bring the return of a sunny sky later today. Temperatures rise into the mid 60s this afternoon, very close to seasonal averages for November 10.

TOMORROW: Another nice day for Alabama, with ample sunshine and afternoon temperatures warming into the low 70s. But, to the west, a deep surface low will bring the risk of severe storms to parts of the nation’s mid-section. There is an “enhanced” severe weather risk, centered near St. Louis…

We should also note there are blizzard warnings up in the cold air sector of the low over parts of Kansas, Colorado, and Nebraska.

That surface low will move up into the Great Lakes region late tomorrow night and Thursday, dragging a cold front into Alabama during the pre-dawn hours early Thursday morning. A band of showers will move through ahead of the front; no severe weather is expected in our state with no surfaced based instability, and with the main upper support well to the north. Most of the showers will pass through between 1:00 and 6:00 a.m., and many will sleep through it.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY: After those early morning showers, the sky should become mostly sunny, and the afternoon high will be in the mid to upper 60s. Friday will be sunny, but breezy and a bit cooler with a high in the low 60s.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: We project a cloudless sky Saturday and Sunday with cold mornings. Most places will see a low in the mid 30s, but colder pockets will drop below freezing. The high Saturday will be in the 57-60 degree range, followed by low 60s Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: The 06Z GFS shows a rather dynamic system impacting the southern U.S. by Tuesday and Wednesday; that one will need to be monitored for severe weather potential in coming days. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Clear and cold for the Friday night high school playoff games; temperatures will fall into the 40s.

Auburn hosts Georgia Saturday at Jordan Hare Stadium (11:00a CT kickoff)… the sky will be sunny with temperatures rising from near 56 at kickoff to 60 by the final whistle.

Alabama takes on Mississippi State over in Starkville at Davis Wade Stadium (2:30p CT kickoff)… the expect a sun filled sky. About 62 degrees at kickoff, falling into the low 50s by the fourth quarter.

AT THE BEACH: Expect dry and pleasant today and tomorrow with a high around 70 degrees, then a risk of showers on Thursday. The weather will be dry and cool Friday through the weekend from Panama City Beach over to Gulf Shores. See the complete Gulf Coast 7 Day Planner here. The Gulf Coast Beach Forecast is presented by Gulf Shores Plantation by Mandoki Hospitality Vacation Rentals. Escape to Gulf Shores Plantation where memories last a lifetime.
