Warming Trend Through The Weekend

| November 25, 2015 @ 6:19 am

GOOD TRAVEL DAY: The weather will be perfect for a trip over the river and through the woods to grandma’s house today here in Alabama; we project a partly sunny sky with a high in the low 60s this afternoon. Pretty much the entire eastern third of the nation is in great shape today; most of the issues for travelers are out west, mostly in the northern Rockies where winter storm warnings continue for snow.

Our weather will stay dry through at least Saturday with a warming trend. We project a high in the mid to upper 60s tomorrow and Friday, and low 70s are likely Saturday. Each day will feature a mix of sun and clouds, and early morning lows will be generally in the 48 to 54 degree range.

A few showers are possible Sunday, mainly over Northwest Alabama, but even there it sure doesn’t look like a big rain event as the main dynamic support stays north and west of our state. The weather stays mild Sunday with a high in the upper 60s.

NEXT WEEK: Just a few isolated showers around here Monday and Tuesday… the latest GFS run really hints it might be Thursday December 3 before we see a really significant rain as a surface low tracks across the state. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

IRON BOWL: What a great day for the biggest football game of the year in Alabama. We are forecasting a kickoff temperature (2:30p CT Saturday) near 70 degrees at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, falling into the upper 50s by the final whistle. Scattered clouds, no risk of rain.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
