Update to Record Warmth Vigil

| December 25, 2015 @ 1:41 pm

It only took an hour for all network reporting stations in Central Alabama to set new record highs for this date.

The temperature reported at the Anniston-Oxford airport at 1 pm was 77 degrees, so this has set a new record high by exceeding the previous record of 73 degrees set in 1982.

At Tuscaloosa, the 1 pm observation showed 79 degrees. This breaks by one degree the previous record of 78 set in 1987.

In Birmingham, it was a similar story. The 1 pm weather observation was 77 degrees, breaking the old record of 74 set in 1987.

It’s quite possible that all stations will go up another few degrees before the sun begins to set and the temperature falls back. We’ll have to wait to see what the final entry will be in the record books, but we know we have set new records. I guess if you can’t have a white Christmas, you might as well have a warm one.
