Contemplating ways to better the community, sharing ideals of justice and unity, and giving back are some of the ways Alabama Power employees celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 18.
NICE DAY: We have filtered sunshine across the northern half of Alabama today thanks to a layer of high, thin cirrus clouds; temperatures are in the 48-55 degree range. South Alabama is warmer with low to mid 60s. Clouds will increase tonight statewide.
If Kyes Stevens sees anyone or anything in need, she’s going to stop and help. It’s why she’s served as a volunteer firefighter for the community around her hometown of Waverly.
The weak front continues to sink south through the state and is near the Gulf Coast at the midday hours with generally a sky with more sun than clouds and dry conditions.
Sharon King said for a nonprofit like Raleigh’s Place, running a thrift store in a drafty, old building was an expensive proposition. But the load has become a little lighter, with the help of Alabama Power and the Alabama Business Charitable Trust Fund.
DRY WEATHER FOR ALABAMA TODAY: A weak surface front is drifting into the far southern part of Alabama today, and a surge of drier and slightly cooler air is dropping southward. For most of the state we expect a decent amount of sun today with a high in the 50s for the northern half of the state… South Alabama will see 60s again this afternoon.
