Flood Advisory for Jefferson County

A thunderstorm developed rapidly over the Birmingham Metro in the past hour, dumping 1-2 inches of rain in short order.

The storm extends from Tarrant to Irondale to Leeds southwestern to Lake Purdy and Meadowbrook in Shelby County.

It is moving east at 20-25 mph. It is moving into Northeastern Shelby and St. Clair Counties. It will approach the track at Talladega before 10 pm.

It is intensifying. Expect heavy rain, lots of lightning and gusty winds.
