The Midday Report — Outdoor-Worthy Weather… Warm & Dry

On the satellite at midday, we see partly sunny skies across the area as there are plenty of fair-weather cumulus clouds mixed in with some higher and thinner clouds. Temperatures as of noon were already up into the mid to upper 70s, and Demopolis being the first to break 80 degrees. We’ll all make it into the 80s today, topping out in the lower to mid 80s. For the rest of the day, skies should remain partly sunny and for now, I’m removing the sprinkles out of the forecast for the western locations of Central Alabama. We’ll keep those clouds this evening and overnight while remaining dry. Lows will be mild, in the lower to mid 60s.

Sunday’s weather will be pretty close to what we see today across Central Alabama. We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds, with a very, very small chance of a few sprinkles over the western communities. Highs will be up in the lower to mid 80s. No reason to not head outdoors and take in of some of nature’s beauty or some high-speed action out there at Barber Motorsports Park.

Weather for next week will be a mixed bag as nearly every day will feature partly sunny skies with a chance of isolated to scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms. The exceptions will be that rain will be likely late Monday as a shortwave moves across the area and an MCS will move into the state. For now, our atmosphere will be stable enough to allow those storms to weaken before moving in. Also, a cold front will try to sneak its way into Central Alabama on Friday, but the latest model runs have now pushed its arrival back several hours. We’ll be in the 80s all week long, but a few locations from Wednesday to Friday may hit the lower 90s along and south of I-85. Rainfall amounts through Friday night go from 0 in the southeast to as high as 1.25 inches in the west. While we are not in any drought situation yet, we’ll need more than this amount of rain per week to keep us above drought conditions.
