HOT, HUMID SUMMER WEATHER: As an upper ridge begins to strengthen across the Deep South, our forecast will highlight slowly rising heat levels over the next five days. Expect a high in the low 90s today and tomorrow, mid 90s Sunday and Monday, followed by upper 90s Tuesday and Wednesday.

Today and tomorrow expect highs ranging from the upper 80s to lower 90s across Alabama, which are right at average for this time of year.

Some spots are getting a big downpour, but many other places have no rain at all with a partly to mostly sunny sky. Temperatures are mostly in the low 90s away from storms.

At the writing of this forecast, there are some showers across West Alabama and more showers in Central Georgia. Rain and storms today are moving from east to west.
NEW DAY, OLD FORECAST: Hot, humid summer weather continues across Alabama through the weekend with partly sunny days and the daily risk of a passing afternoon shower or storm in scattered spots. For most of the state the chance of any one specific location seeing a cooling shower will remain in the 25-35 percent range, with slightly higher odds over the southern counties.
RADAR CHECK: Scattered showers and thunderstorms are mainly over the eastern half of Alabama this afternoon. They are moving southward, and heavier storms are producing strong wind gusts and lots of lightning. Temperatures are mostly in the 80s over the eastern counties, with 90s over West Alabama.
Hot temperatures, high humidity, and random afternoon and evening storms, it looks and feels a lot like late July in Alabama.
