Surf’s Up Along the Alabama and Northwest Florida Coast

| March 6, 2017 @ 12:18 pm

But don’t go in the water unless you are an experienced surfer, because it is very dangerous.

Here’s something you don’t see every day:  a High Surf Advisory along the Alabama and Northwest Florida coast.

A persistent, long fetch of wind coming around high pressure centered over the North Carolina Outer Banks and squeezed by low pressure over the Dakotas is ideal for producing powerful waves along the beautiful beaches of Alabama and Northwest Florida.  Wave heights will reach 7 feet through the evening.

And the powerful wave action has resulted in a high rip current risk along the beaches that will last through Tuesday.

Please stay out of the water.
