A Quick Mid-Afternoon Check On Our Weather

| August 1, 2017 @ 2:04 pm

A Rather Nice Day At The Mid-Afternoon Point
High pressure off to our northeast continues to be in control of our weather across Central Alabama today, and as we approach the 2:00 PM hour, conditions are not that bad for the first day of August. Skies across the area are partly to mostly clear, but the radar is completely dry and will remain that way throughout the rest of the day.

Temperatures Across Central Alabama
As we approach the 2:00 PM hour, temperatures are actually rather nice… still below normal at this point as we are in the “Dog Days of Summer.” Temperatures are ranging from 82 to 90 degrees throughout Central Alabama at this point. Birmingham is at 88 degrees, with Tuscaloosa as the warm spot at 90 degrees. The cool spot is Auburn at 82 degrees.

Weather For The Rest Of The Day
Skies will be partly to mostly sunny throughout the remainder of the daytime hours, and with lower dewpoint values in the lower to mid 60s, the afternoon highs in the upper 80s to the lower 90s will not be all that unbearable. A few more clouds will roll into the area during the overnight area, but we’ll remain dry. Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s to the lower 70s.

A Few More Clouds On Wednesday
The high pressure off to our northeast will begin a weakening phase, but it will leave us with one more day of decent weather before it dissipates. We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds throughout the daytime and into the evening and late night hours. It will be another dry day with somewhat lower dewpoint values. Afternoon highs will once again be in the upper 80s to the lower 90s. Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s to the lower 70s.

Beach Forecast
It will be sunny and dry, but the risk for showers and storms return for Wednesday through Sunday. For a detailed look at the weather from Fort Morgan over to Panama City Beach, click here to see the AlabamaWx Beach Forecast Center page.

Tropical Outlook
Tropical Depression Emily has emerged off of the eastern coast of Florida this morning and will continue to move to the northeast away from the US mainland. Maximum sustained winds are down to 30 MPH. Her forecast track will keep her north of Bermuda and she should not strengthen back into a tropical storm, according to the NHC.
