Heavy Rainfall May Cause Flooding Across Central Alabama

A prolonged period of moderate to heavy rains will continue to add up and could result in rises in rivers, creeks, and low lying areas. Localized flash flooding could occur with any training as well, but the bigger threat will be from prolonged rain.

FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Flood Watch for all of central Alabama.

* From Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon.

* Rainfall totals of one and a half to two and a half with locally higher totals are possible through Sunday afternoon.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
