This week’s Episode is sort of like a weather buffet (there’s something for everyone):

A WeatherBrains Extra: GOES-R. What will the next generation weather satellite have
aboard, and what will this mean for our ability to forecast? We talk with Tim Schmit, a
NOAA satellite meteorologist assigned to the University of Wisconsin’s Space Science and
Engineering Center;

We present the second part of our interview with National Hurricane Center Director
William Proenza, who questioned spending by NOAA (the Hurricane Center’s parent agency),
as well as what he says were cuts NOAA made to the Hurricane Center’s budget, and
NOAA’s plans about branding and renaming NHC and the National Weather Service;

So, are Mr. Proenza’s comments totally accurate? Not according to NOAA. Kevin Selle
talks with NOAA spokesman Anson Franklin, Director of the NOAA Office of Communications,
who responds to concerns Proenza raised;

Global warming heats up for Spann: James speaks to a group about manmade global warming,
and winds up dealing with a heckler who’s hot under the collar;

Ready for class? On WeatherBrains 101, the distinguished Professor Peters teaches us
about evaporative cooling;

So, just what should a weatherman look like? J.B. Elliott recalls the description he heard from
a very young visitor many years back;

This Week In Weather History: Bill Murray recounts how two days of rain led to one of
America’s worst disasters ever; and he looks at how politics in 1879 set tornado
forecasting back more than half a century;

Join James Spann, J.B. Elliott, Bill Murray, Brian Peters and David Black…
