Turning Our Attention Westward

| October 18, 2007 @ 7:10 pm | 15 Replies

Nothing really going on in North and Central Alabama early this evening. Down south, still lots of rain. It has been that way much of the day.

Now we turn our attention to the west where the weather is getting active again early tonight. Two lines of thunderstorms formed and we must deal with these later tonight.

The first (easternmost) line was relatively short and irregular. However, NWS/Jackson posted Tornado Warnings for Forrest and Lamar County until 7:30 and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for Leake and Neshoba County until 7:45.

The second line was longer and better organized. It extended from West Tennessee southward to near Memphis and down along the west side of the Mississippi River (east edge of Arkansas) to SE Arkansas.

Sounds like we may be burning the midnight kerosene and slurping the 3 am coffee again tonight.

Who needs sleep?

Sleep is a waste of time.

I hate sleep.

These storms may grow stronger as they cross Alabama tonight. The longer line may be after midnight. Possibility that they might not be so strong at that late hour with a more stable atmosphere.

No guarantees.

ADDITIONAL TUSCALOOSA NOTES
