Here are some reports from around the area due to the gravity wave this afternoon:

* At 5:44 pm, EMA in Gadsden reported gravity wave wind damage. Widespread power lines down throughout Etowah County.
* 0.79 rain amount with lots of power outages in Helena (report from Brian Peters)
* Peak gust to 50 mph at the Gadsden Skycam
* Peak gust 53 mph at the Inverness skycam
* Gust 51 mph at the downtown Birmingham skycam atop the Daniel Building
* 0.54 rain amount at Riverchase at 33/40
* Gust to 33 mph Pleasant Grove. Trees were reported down on 7th Street in Pleasant Grove.
* 0.55 rain in Sterrett/Chelsea
* Trees and power lines down in Hueytown on the west side of town and in Roebuck in NE Birmingham.
* Alabama Power reports 18,000 customers without power in the Birmingham area.
* 6,700 with no power in the Tuscaloosa district.
* Peak gust 37 mph at Birmingham Airport

NOTE: This is not nearly all of the high wind reports from around the area and over West and North Alabama this afternoon. Most of those were included in earlier blog posts.

RADAR UPDATE
The main rain area has now shifted over into East Alabama. Mostly light rain continues in the Jefferson/Shelby County area. The heaviest rain of all continues over extreme South and SE Alabama. It is pouring around Mobile and in NW Florida. We will try to round up some specific rain reports a little later this evening.
