An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

FOGGY START: While the fog is not especially widespread, there are some communities with visibility less than 1/2 mile this morning across Alabama. Once the fog burns off, we expect a mix of sun and clouds today with a high back in the 70s. As the upper trough axis swings through, we could see a shower or two on radar this afternoon or tonight, but the chance of any one spot getting wet is only about one in ten as most of the low level moisture is long gone.

TOMORROW/FRIDAY: These two days will be warm and dry; with a good supply of sunshine look for a high in the low 80s both days. Morning lows will remain in the 50s.

THE WEEKEND: Not much change Saturday; the sky will be partly sunny and temperatures will rise to near 80 degrees. Then, Saturday night, a cold front will pass through. This might squeeze out a few showers, but they will be very widely spaced with only a very limited amount of moisture in place. Only about a 20 percent risk of any one neighborhood seeing a shower, and the best chance will come from about 9:00 p.m. Saturday through 9:00 a.m. Sunday.

The coolest air so far this season will blow in here Sunday; the sky becomes mostly sunny by afternoon with a high only in the low 60s along with a cool north breeze. Then, by daybreak Monday, we drop into the 37 to 44 degree range. Maybe even a touch of frost for the coldest valleys across North Alabama.

RACE WEEKEND: Looks dry for the Saturday and Sunday races this weekend at Talladega, but a huge temperature contrast. Temperatures will be around 80 Saturday afternoon, but will be closer to 60 Sunday afternoon. Just a 20 percent chance of a shower Saturday night or early Sunday at the Superspeedway.

NEXT WEEK: Looks like one of those really great October weeks with sunny pleasant days and clear chilly nights.

TROPICS: Nadine is in day 21 of life… but it should finally become post-tropical by the end of the week in the East Atlantic. A new system between Africa and the Lesser Antilles is expected to become a tropical depression today, but it will move northeast and is no threat to the U.S. See the Weather Xtreme video for details.
