RADAR CHECK: A few showers are near the Georgia border this afternoon ahead of a cold front passing through Alabama. You can see the difference on either side of the front; at 2:00 Haleyville reported 54 degrees, while Montgomery was 22 degrees warmer at 76.

We will be mostly cloudy tonight, but dry. And, the weather turns colder. Most communities will see a low between 41 and 45 degrees early tomorrow.

MORE SHOWERS: A deep, cold core upper trough will pass over Alabama tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night, and it will bring the threat of more rain. Nothing like last night… no flooding or severe weather, but it will clearly rain at times over much of North/Central Alabama. The main window for showers will come from about 4:00 p.m. through 12:00 midnight; rain amounts of around 1/4 to 1/2 inch are likely. Due to the very cold air aloft, there could be some thunder involved in spots. The sky will be mostly cloudy tomorrow with a high in the mid 60s.

Wednesday will be a mostly sunny day with a high in the mid 60s.

THURSDAY MORNING FROST POTENTIAL: Colder pockets across North/Central Alabama will visit the mid 30s early Thursday with potential for some light frost. I don’t think it will be especially damaging, but growers need to be aware of the situation.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be delightful spring days with a warming trend; the high by Friday and Saturday will be very close to 80 degrees. Sunday looks dry as well with a partly sunny sky; the next chance of showers and storms will come early next week on Monday. Too early to determine if there will be a severe weather threat… see the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and details.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. We will produce this week’s show Thursday night at 8:30 CT.
