An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

COOL MID-WINTER DAY: Despite maximum available sunshine, temperatures are only in the 48-53 degree range across much of North/Central Alabama this afternoon. A pretty decent freeze is ahead tonight; lows early tomorrow will drop down into the 25-29 degree range.

Tomorrow will be another cool, dry day with a partly sunny sky and a high in the mid 50s.

WET WEATHER RETURNS: Rain will begin across Alabama on Sunday by mid to late morning… continuing through the afternoon and nighttime hours. Some thunder is possible in a few spots; rain amounts of 1/2 to 1 inch are likely. The rain will taper off late Sunday night.

FLURRIES EARLY MONDAY? As the surface low deepens and moves northeast of Alabama, and colder air advects into the state, we will continue to mention the chance of a few snow flurries Monday morning. No impact is expected with surface temperatures above freezing, and the deeper moisture off to the east. The sky will begin to clear Monday afternoon, but the day will be blustery and cold with a high only in the low to mid 40s along with a chilly north wind.

Tuesday morning will be cold, and a low in the 20-25 degree range. Then, the day Tuesday will be sunny with a high close to 50 degrees.

MORE RAIN: The next wave in the southern branch of the jet stream promises to bring more rain back to the state on Wednesday, followed by colder and drier air Thursday and Friday. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.
