Weekend Warm-Up Ahead

| March 6, 2015 @ 3:19 pm

**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today**

ABOVE FREEZING: We are seeing mostly mid 40s this afternoon across North/Central Alabama with a cobalt blue sky. Some places, like Cullman and Haleyville, are only in the upper 30s.

Tonight will be another cold one, but not as cold as last night. We project a low between 23 and 26 degrees early tomorrow, with potential for the upper teens again for the colder valleys of North Alabama.

WARMER WEEKEND: Tomorrow looks like a delightful day, with ample sunshine and a high in the low 60s. Then, we reach the mid 60s Sunday with a mix of sun and clouds. Clouds thicken late Sunday, and a few showers could show up late Sunday night, especially after midnight.

NEXT WEEK: The week looks rather wet… no snow, freezing rain, or sleet this time. Periods of rain are likely Monday and Tuesday with highs in the 50s, then highs rise into the 60s over the latter half of the week, and there will be some chance of showers each day Wednesday through Friday. It will be hard to time the various periods of rain, but no doubt you will need to keep an umbrella handy.

Rain amounts of 2-3 inches look likely next week, with potential for more in a few spots.

We also note the GFS suggests potential for strong thunderstorm setup as the following weekend begins on Saturday March 14. Keep in mind we are now in the spring tornado season; it runs during the months of March, April, and May.
