| June 12, 2015 @ 2:29 pm

**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today; I am live on ABC 33/40 at Alabama Splash Adventure at 4, 5, and 6:00**

RADAR CHECK: A number of showers and storms have formed in the unstable, moist air over Central Alabama this afternoon… they are moving northeast, and the heavier storms are producing lightning and heavy rain.

Showers and storms will end after the sun goes down later this evening.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: The weather trends hotter and drier tomorrow and Sunday as an upper ridges begins to build across the Southeast U.S. We reach the low 90s tomorrow, with potential for mid 90s in a few spots by Sunday afternoon; any afternoon showers or storms should be widely spaced.

NEXT WEEK: Hot weather continues for the first half of the week, with mid 90s a good possibility Monday and Tuesday along with only isolated afternoon showers or storms. Heat levels back down later in the week as the ridge weakens, and the chance of scattered showers and storms increases.

TROPICS: The Atlantic basin is quiet, but we do note the 12Z run of the GFS brings a tropical system into South Texas around the middle of next week; remains to be seen if this will happen or not, but we will keep an eye on trends.

AT THE BEACH: About 7 to 9 hours of sunshine along the Central Gulf Coast each day through early next week with widely scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs on the immediate coast will be in the 82-85 degree range, with readings close to 90 inland. Sea water temperatures are mostly in the low to mid 80s.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
