Cooling Trend Begins Tomorrow

| October 15, 2015 @ 2:47 pm

WARM OCTOBER AFTERNOON: Temperatures are up in the low to mid 80s across North/Central Alabama this afternoon… about 10 degrees above average for the middle of October…

Temperatures

COOLER DAYS AHEAD: The weather will stay dry through the weekend with sunny days and clear nights, but we trend cooler beginning tomorrow, when the high drops into the upper 70s. Then, we are now projecting a low down in the low 40s early Saturday morning, with potential for upper 30s across the colder valleys and protected areas of North and Central Alabama. Sunday morning will be just as cold, and there might even be a touch of light frost in the colder spots. Highs for the weekend will be in the 67 to 70 degree range.

NEXT WEEK: The latest global data still shows dry weather for the state Monday through Thursday, with just a slow warming trend. Highs will be close to 70 Monday and Tuesday, followed by low 70s Wednesday, and mid 70s Thursday. Both the GFS and the ECMWF continue to show a tropical low lifting northward from the Gulf of Mexico, bringing the possibility of a widespread rain event to parts of the southern U.S. by the following weekend (October 24-25). But, understand this is in “voodoo land”, and it remains to be seen where the highest probability of rain will be, and the timing is impossible to determine as well. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

Auburn travels to Lexington to play Kentucky tonight… the weather will be clear and cool with temperatures dropping from the low 60s at kickoff (6:00 p.m. CT) into the mid 50s by the final whistle.

Alabama plays at Texas A&M Saturday (2:30p CT kickoff)… in College Station the sky will be sunny, with about 85 degrees at kickoff. Temperatures will fall into the upper 70s by the final whistle.

AT THE BEACH: Beautiful weather from Gulf Shores over to Panama City Beach through the weekend; sunny days, fair nights. Highs around 80, and lows in the 60s… but the weekend will be cooler with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s. See the complete Gulf Coast 7 Day Planner here.
