Alabama Evacuation Information

MOBILE COUNTY

Based on the strength and uncertainty of Hurricane Gustav, Mobile County officials have issued a voluntary evacuation for Zone 1 south of I-10, said Walt Dickerson, the county’s emergency management director.

The evacuation will take effect at 10 a.m. Sunday, he said. An estimated 56,000 people live in that zone, which includes Bayou La Batre and Dauphin Island.

Anyone who needs help evacuating Bayou La Batre should call 824-2757 to arrange pickup at the town’s Civic Center on Padgett Switch Road, police said.

Storm surge of 5 feet or more is expected along south Mobile County and Mobile Bay, officials said. Several shelters will be opened starting at 10 a.m. Sunday including:
–Theodore High School
–Semmes Middle School
–Baker High School
–Collins-Rhodes Elementary School (medical needs shelter)
–“Pet Friendly Shelter” at the Semmes Boys and Girls Club

BALDWIN COUNTY

On behalf of the Baldwin County Commission, the Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has issued a Voluntary Evacuation for the following areas:

Fort Morgan Peninsula
Plash Island
All low lying, surge and flood prone areas in unincorporated Baldwin County
All areas south of Fort Morgan Road in the City of Gulf Shores
