Hot, Mostly Dry Tomorrow

| July 7, 2016 @ 3:04 pm

QUIET SUMMER AFTERNOON: Showers are almost impossible to find across the great state of Alabama on this July afternoon thanks to warmer air aloft. Temperatures are in the mid 90s in most spots. We are watching another MCS (mesoscale convective system) pushing down into Middle Tennessee, but most of those storms should remain north of Alabama this evening.

Things won’t change much tomorrow; mostly sunny, hot, muggy weather continues with only about a 10 percent chance of any one neighborhood seeing an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. The high will be back in the mid 90s, with potential for upper 90s in a few spots.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: The weather won’t change too much Saturday, although a few scattered showers and storms will likely show up during the afternoon and evening hours. The sky will be partly sunny, and Saturday’s high will be between 92 and 95 degree for most places. Scattered showers and thunderstorms become more numerous Sunday as the air aloft becomes colder and instability values increase. It won’t rain everywhere, but some communities should see a good downpour or two. Otherwise, we will have a mix of sun and clouds Sunday with a high around 90 degrees.

NEXT WEEK: We will roll with the classic summer forecast through the week… partly sunny, hot, humid days with the daily round of “scattered, mostly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms”. Highs will be in the 90s… see the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

TROPICS: The Atlantic basin remains quiet, but over in the western Pacific Super Typhoon Nepartak is moving into the southern part of Taiwan with sustained winds of around 150 mph.

AT THE BEACH: Mostly sunny days, fair nights, and only isolated showers on the Gulf Coast from Gulf Shores to Panama City Beach through early next week. Highs on the immediate coast will remain in the 87-90 degree range, with mid 90s inland. See a very detailed Gulf Coast forecast here.
