Heads Up Autauga, Shelby, Chilton, & Bibb Counties
A significant Weather Advisory has been issued for Chilton, Northwestern Autauga, Shelby, and Southeastern Bibb counties until 11:15 AM CST.
At 1035 AM CST, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Helena to 9 miles northwest of Paul M. Grist State Park. Movement was east at 35 mph.
Pea size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.
Locations impacted include Hoover, Alabaster, Pelham, Helena, Calera, Chelsea, Clanton, Montevallo, Columbiana, Jemison, Wilsonville, Indian Springs Village, Vincent, Thorsby, Harpersville, Westover, Maplesville, Wilton,
Billingsley and Brierfield Ironworks Park.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
