Severe Thunderstorm Warning Canceled for Northern Chilton and Shelby Counties

…THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR NORTH CENTRAL CHILTON AND
CENTRAL SHELBY COUNTIES IS CANCELLED…

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer pose an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore the warning has been cancelled.

A tornado watch remains in effect until 300 AM CST for Alabama.

Severe thunderstorm is approaching Calera tonight. It will move north northeast and impact Calera, Columbiana and Chelsea.

Hail to 1.5 inches is the greatest threat. Winds could reach 50 mph and there is lots of heavy rain sitting right over US-31 and I-65.

…A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1100 PM CST
FOR NORTH CENTRAL CHILTON AND CENTRAL SHELBY COUNTIES…

At 1029 PM CST, a severe thunderstorm was located near Jemison,
moving northeast at 50 mph.

HAZARD…Ping pong ball size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect damage
to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles.

Locations impacted include…
Alabaster, Pelham, Calera, Chelsea, Columbiana, Jemison, Wilsonville,
Indian Springs Village, Harpersville, Westover, Meadowbrook, Shelby
County Airport, Highland Lakes, Oak Mountain State Park, Hoover
Veterans Park, Saddle Lake Farms, Ballantrae, Camp Branch, Bounds
Lake and Minooka Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

This storm is producing large hail. SEEK SHELTER NOW inside a sturdy
structure and stay away from windows.
