Ike Slams Ashore Tonight

Sorry….. a little late in getting everything finished this afternoon. A very busy day… thanks to Bill and J.B. for their excellent work on covering Ike.
Watch the Weather Xtreme video for the latest on Ike and other action in the tropics… you can scroll down for all of the notes from Bill and J.B. Lots of information will continue to flow here tonight and tomorrow, and I have a number of pictures from the coast I will be posting shortly.
THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: No real change; our weather will be mostly dry through the weekend with hot afternoons; highs will be in the 88 to 92 degree range. A few showers could show up this evening and tomorrow afternoon, but they should be very isolated.
Looks like our best chance of showers will come late Sunday and Sunday night, as a front trailing from Ike moves through Alabama (Ike should be over Ohio at the time.. moving rapidly northeast). The rain probably won’t be heavy, and the 12Z GFS suggests the rain will be over by daybreak Monday.
The GFS brings in dry air during the day Monday, and the rest of the week looks generally rain-free with comfortable temperatures; we should even see the cooler valleys visit the 50s by early Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
