The radar is still quiet across Alabama this afternoon.

High pressure is dominating our weather.

Temperatures are in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. It feels quite humid, with dewopints near 70.

Winds are out of the south at 10-20 mph with higher gusts over the western half of the area. A Lake Wind advisory is in effect over southwestern sections, which winds are over the criteria especially on bodies of water. Look for that to be the case on Sunday also as the remnants of Hurricane Ike move across Arkansas and into Missouri.

We are keeping our fingers crossed for a good chance of showers and storms across the area Sunday afternoon and Sunday night. If you believe the morning GFS, Monday could be one of my favoritie weather days: cloudy and cool with lots of showers around.

UPDATE ON IKE
The center of Ike is near Palestine TX early this afternoon. To the northwest of the center, Corsicana TX reports NNW 31 G 46. To the north of the center, Tyler reports winds ENE at 24 gusting to 43. A peak gust of 50 was recorded in the past hour. To the northeast, Longview reports ESE 24 gusting to 43 mph.

TORNADO WARNINGS
Three tornado warnings this hour over northern Louisiana and southern Arkansas under the feeder bands in the unstable, highly sheared airmass to the east of the storm.

FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR CHICAGO LAND
It has been a rough morning in the Chicago area. Interstates flooded. 4-7 inches of rain overnight and this morning in parts of the Chicagoland area with additional rain still falling.
