CELEBRATE OCTOBER: J.B. Elliott and I both share a true love for the month of October; it brings the first chilly air of the season after Alabama’s long, hot summer. Some of the most beautiful weather of the year is usually found this time of the year, and the next two days are a great example.

Sunny mild days, clear cool nights… that is the forecast through the weekend. Models continue to trend warmer, so it now looks like tonight will be coolest night with 40s for all of North and Central Alabama. Lows will be in the 50s tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday morning. We will have to raise afternoon highs upward over the weekend, now we are expecting mid 80s on Saturday and Sunday afternoon as a ridge aloft builds over Alabama, in response to a deep upper low forming out west. Still no chance of rain through Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: The 12z GFS still looks dry for Alabama most of next week, with temperatures a little above average for early October. Quite frankly, no sign of any major rain event for Alabama for the next 15 days.

TROPICS: The Atlantic basin is quiet, with the exception of Subtropical Storm Laura in the North Atlantic.
