A Beautiful But Breezy Midday Out There Across Central Alabama

At the midday hour across Central Alabama, it’s a rather cool and breezy day out there with cobalt blue skies overhead. Winds are out of the north at 5-15 MPH, with some gusts approaching 20 MPH, and that is making it feel cooler than what the temperatures are.

Looking at the latest image from across the southeast, a few clouds are streaming across the Florida Peninsula, along with a few clouds over portions of Tennessee and North Carolina. For the rest of the southeast, it’s sunshine to the max.

Clear skies will continue for Central Alabama for the remainder of your Friday, but it will be breezy at times during the daylight hours. Afternoon highs will be in the mid 50s to the mid 60s across the area from north to south. Winds will begin to subside for this evening and during the overnight hours. With clear skies, lows will drop into the upper 20s to the mid 30s across the area.

TEMPERATURES ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA
At 12:28 PM, temperatures are ranging from the lower 50s in the northern parts of Central Alabama, to the mid 60s to the south. The warm spot is currently Eufaula at 65ºF, with the cool spot is Cullman at 51ºF.

THE FIRST WEEKEND OF MARCH
Saturday will be a beautiful day for Central Alabama, as sunny skies and mild temperatures can be expected. Temperatures will start off in the upper 20s to the mid 30s, but it will warm nicely during the day. Highs will range in the lower to mid 60s across the area.

Clouds will start to move in for the predawn hours on Sunday morning, but the day will be dry. Temperatures will start off in the mid 30s to the lower 40s in the morning. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy for the day and into the evening hours. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 60s across the area.

GFS Total Rainfall Amounts Through 12AM Monday.

The GFS is trying to paint some rainfall in for the northwestern parts of the state and the southern parts of the area, but we’ll stay dry until Tuesday.

CLIMATOLOGY AND RECORDS FOR BIRMINGHAM
The normal high for March 3rd is 63ºF, while the normal low is 39ºF. The record high for today was set back in 1951 at 81ºF. The record low was set back in 1980 at 11ºF.

TODAY IN WEATHER HISTORY
March 3, 1988: A small but intense low pressure system roared across west central Mississippi at 90 mph early in the morning. A tornado in southern Mississippi picked up an automobile, carried it 150 feet, and tossed it through the brick wall of an unoccupied retirement home.
