Good morning…

It is clear and calm across Alabama this morning.

Some low clouds are just to our north over Tennessee, but so far they have stayed out of Alabama.

Temperatures across Central sections range from 33 at Tuscaloosa to 38 at Birmingham. It was 34 at Gadsden. It was 29F at Millport in Lamar County. The Anniston Airport had 30F.

Up in Scrougeout, Vic Bel reports 28F with a big frost. Ronald Hughes in Coker reports 31F. Michael Mills in Alabaster has 33F.

Winds are out of the northwest, but light. They will average 6-12 mph, less than yesterday.

Highs today should be in the upper 50s to around 60. A few clouds could develop during the afternoon, but sunshine should be the main feature of the day.

Tonight will be clear and chilly again with lows in the 30s. Frost will be likely and some areas will experience a light freeze.

THE WEEK AHEAD…based on the 0z GFS run
Monday…dry and warmer
Tuesday…showers during morning, rain likely overnight
Wednesday…wet
Thursday…a round of showers and storms, some nice rainfall amounts
Friday…cloudy with a few showers.
Saturday…clearing and cooler
Sunday…sunny and cool

PALOMA
Hurricane Paloma has been downgraded to Tropical Storm Paloma. Paloma has slowed its forward progress, and is still over eastern Cuba. Top winds are 70 mph. It will emerge off the north coast of Cuba today and continue to weaken. It will become a remnant low that will drift erratically. It may move westward. Don’t look for any regeneration.
