Alabama 811 | Know What's Below.

Warm, Dry Days

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below, and on iTunes…

Unseasonably warm weather will continue through the rest of March, as an upper air ridge deflects the rain producing systems west and north of Alabama. Daily highs will hold in the low 80s, with partly to mostly sunny days and fair nights.

The deep cutoff upper low south of San Diego will weaken and lift out next week, but just a few showers are expected here in Alabama on Tuesday. The prospect of a big, beneficial rain event is very unlikely through the end of March. This means the fire danger will remain high, and pollen levels high as well.

PEEKING INTO APRIL: Out into voodoo land (what we call anything beyond seven days), the GFS continues to suggest the ridge will break down, and a more zonal flow will develop which will allow more rain producing systems into Alabama. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Heading out to Auburn tonight to speak to the Alabama Association of Emergency Managers; Ashley Brand will cover the TV shift for me. Then, early tomorrow, we are on the road to Starkville for the annual Southeast Severe Storm Symposium at Mississippi State University. I will be there along with J.B. Elliott, Brian Peters, and Jason Simpson. So… there will not be another Weather Xtreme video available until Sunday. We will be posting notes on the blog from the conference, so stay tuned!
