5:45 pm Alabama Update

Most of Alabama not getting rain at this hour. However, at 5:45 there was a curved line of showers over West Central and SW Alabama. It extended from near Centreville to Greensboro and Demopolis and then due south all the way to Mobile. Moderate to briefly heavy showers in part of the line.

The heaviest seemed to me over Mobile County. At Mobile regional Airport, 1.42 inches of rain since noon today!

Movement toward the NE.

I would estimate that about 15% of the state was getting rain at this hour.

The wedge was involved in Alabama weather today. At one time early this afternoon, it was only 55 in Atlanta while Montgomery had 73. No distinct front involved, just a steady push of cooler air infiltrating from the east.
