The latest edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

The cold front blasted through much of Alabama overnight and it was located just east of the state around 6 am. Behind the front temperatures will change little today with strong cold advection and a brisk northwesterly wind. And it will remain quite cold tomorrow as highs struggle into the lower 50s.

Today will be a great day to come to the BJCC for our annual storm spotter training event. We’ll start the program at 9:30 am and promise to be out by 3:30 pm. Plus you get free admission to the International Auto Show, too.

Going to be chilly through much of the upcoming week as a trough takes up residence over the east coast keeping the central section of the country and the Southeast US under a northwesterly flow pattern. The upper level pattern will allow for several reinforcing shots of cool air, one on Monday and another around Wednesday. But the atmosphere will remain dry so the only noticeable weather will be changes in temperature.

For the most part, our highs and lows will be at or below seasonal values for mid-November with lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s – maybe edging into the lower 60s toward the end of the week.

Not much to watch in the tropics with the final two weeks of hurricane season ahead.

Voodoo country – also known as the long range beyond seven days out to fourteen – continues to show varying solutions. Today the long range projections suggest the westerlies a little to our north with little amplitude to any of the troughs or ridges. By the end of the cycle at the end of the month, a system moving through the pattern could bring a chance for rain, but that is likely to change before the date arrives.

Don’t forget to listen to our weekly netcast anytime on the web or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.

And you can follow our news and weather updates from ABC 33/40 on Twitter here. And, my personal Twitter feed is here if you want to keep up with the adventures and mis-adventures in my life. Twitter is a short messaging service you can receive via the web, cell phone, or IM.

I’m about to head out for the BJCC with the Chaser and my presentations. Looking forward to chatting with our Skywatchers and talking severe weather. I hope you have a chance to join us. We’re going to be shooting a special Storm Alert promo with the Skywatchers, too, so that should be exciting. The next Weather Xtreme Video should be posted by 8 am or so tomorrow morning. Godspeed.
