The latest edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

Clouds covered much of the northern half of Alabama this morning, but I think most of those will be zipping on out of the area today so that we should see a good deal of sunshine. But those temperatures will be fairly chilly today with a brisk northwest wind and highs only reaching the lower 50s – that’s close to 15 degrees between where we typically expect to be in the middle of November.

Conditions will stay dry for the next seven days for the Southeast and Central Alabama. The main forecast challenge will be pegging the temperature forecast. And the GFS MOS numbers may not be to good with a very dry atmosphere to deal with for the next week. And I think the dry atmosphere will aide in keeping our temperatures slightly below typical values for the next week. Nothing in the way of extreme cold is expected.

No severe weather projected for the next eight days either. And the tropics are quiet. Beginning to look like our Fall severe weather season may be one of the quietest in a number of years!

Interesting to note that the GFS 06Z model run has flipped in voodoo land. Yesterday the second week of the forecast as November winds down was fairly quiet, but now the GFS is projecting a rapid series of storms that could bring some unsettled weather to the Southeast. But it’s voodoo – just fun to watch and speculate a little.

Don’t forget to listen to our weekly netcast anytime on the web or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.

Third Sunday so I’m off to handle the ushering duties at church shortly. I wanted to again thank all the folks who came out yesterday for Storm Alert Xtreme. It was a great crowd and I enjoyed talking to many folks. We’ll have to do that again next year. And special thanks to Brett McBrayer and the Birmingham Automobile Dealers Association for making it all possible and allowing Xtreme attendees to see the auto show.

James will be back in the saddle bright and early Monday. Thanks for watching. Godspeed.
