Sorry… running way late today…. not much change in our thinking for the next 7 days.

TONIGHT: Cold is the word. The valleys are headed for the teens; elsewhere most spots will be between 20 and 25 by daybreak tomorrow.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Extra warm clothing needed for the high school play off games tonight. It should already be down to freezing for the 7:00 p.m. kick off at most stadiums and probably around 28 or 30 by the final whistle. The only good news is clear weather with little or no wind. In college football, Alabama and Auburn are resting tomorrow, but UAB will host East Carolina for a 6:00 p.m. kick off at Legion Field and televised on CSS. It will be clear with temperatures in the 40s at kick off and middle 30s by the 4th quarter.

THE DAYS AHEAD: Sunny tomorrow and Sunday with a slow warming trend. A cold front will bring showers Monday; only about a quarter-inch of rain expected. Then, dry and very pleasant weather is forecast for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thanksgiving Day with cold mornings but pleasant afternoons.

Rain will move into Alabama one week from today, the Friday after Thanksgiving, and colder air returns by Saturday and Sunday (November 29-30). Watch the Weather Xtreme video for more… early December offers an interesting split flow with a cold polar jet just to the north, and a southern branch near us that can offer lots of mischief.

TWITTER: Don’t forget, you can follow our news and weather updates from ABC 33/40 on Twitter here. And, my personal Twitter feed is here if you want to keep up with my adventures in life. Twitter is a short messaging service you can receive via the web, cell phone, or IM.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.

I hope you enjoy the weekend… my next Weather Xtreme video will be posted by 7:00 a.m. Monday… Brian Peters will have the updates tomorrow and Sunday.
