Here is a Look at the Alabama Weather Situation Just Before 9 p.m.

| March 27, 2017 @ 8:46 pm

The storms across Central Alabama have weakened in the past hour, but not before causing a good bit of damage across eastern Birmingham. Numerous trees are reported down in the East Lake neighborhood, centered around 1st Avenue South and 77th street.

A line of storms is dropping into North Alabama. There is a severe thunderstorm warning for Lauderdale County. This line will drop south into the after midnight hours. It will weaken with time, but could reach the Birmingham area before it completely fizzles out around 2 a.m.

Storms over eastern Mississippi seem to be intensifying and will impact Sumter and Choctaw Counties between 9 and 10 p.m. Those storms will push across Greene, Hale and Marengo Counties if they hold together.

The watch will expire for the North Alabama Counties and will not be extended. No word on the Central Alabama counties yet.

Tomorrow will feature more storms with the trough stalling over Central Alabama. They should not pose a severe threat however.

More severe weather is possible Thursday night and late in the weekend.
