Storms in the Birmingham Metro, Line Pushing Across Central Alabama

A complex of thunderstorms extends from the Birmingham Metro area southward though Bibb, Perry and Dallas Counties. It will affect Autauga, Bibb, Chilton and Lowndes Counties over the next hour.

The storms are not severe, but are producing very rainfall and copious amounts of lightning. Winds could gust to 50 mph as well.

West of this line, as area of moderate to occasionally heavy rain was falling back to the Mississippi line.

Elsewhere, a large area of rain and embedded thunder now covers much of North Alabama to the north of I-20.

Severe storms are over South west Alabama and coastal Mississippi.

A tornado watch remains in effect for Southwest Alabama until 9 a.m. and a severe thunderstorm watch until 11 a.m. for South Central Alabama.
