Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Colbert and Franklin Counties

The NWS in Huntsville has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Colbert and Franklin Counties.

This is for the storm that produced the tornado earlier in Prentiss County MS. The reason for severe thunderstorm instead of tornado warning is that the NWS forecaster in Huntsville saw that the core had collapsed on the storm and the rotation is not as tight.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville Alabama has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
Southwestern Colbert County in northwestern Alabama…
Northwestern Franklin County in northwestern Alabama…

* Until 400 PM CDT

* At 313 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Tishomingo
State Park, moving east at 35 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

Cherokee, Belgreen, Posey Loop, Allsboro, Rockwood, Red Rock, Pride
Landing, Dempsey, Crooked Oak and Pogo.
