Watch The Pizitz Weather Balloon Launch On Our Live Feed

| May 10, 2017 @ 10:48 am

Pizitz Middle School will be launching a weather balloon at approximately 12:30PM, and we would like for you to watch as well. Head on over to our Facebook page, and we will start broadcasting live a few minutes before the release of the balloon. Click here to go to the AlabamaWx Weather Blog Facebook Page.

This will be the second year that Pizitz will launch a weather balloon. A team of students have been put together by science teachers Diane McAliley, Katie Cooper, and Ashley Perry, and they will be responsible for assisting with launch, retrieval, and documentation of the launch.

These students have worked hard to predict the perfect day for launch, and that day is today! Our very own meteorologist Bill Murray, along with his wife Elle, and myself spent two days back in April at Pizitz teaching all sixth grade students how to read weather models and discuss the various factors that would affect their launch.

State Farm Agent Michael O’Neal provided financial assistance with the production of the workbook.

You can follow along as well… Along with our Facebook Live coverage of the launch, we will also have live tracking of the balloon trajectory. Click here to see the live tracking of the balloon trajectory.
