Tornado Watch Has Been Cancelled For The Extreme SE Parts Of Central Alabama

| May 23, 2017 @ 9:40 am

At 11:01AM CDT, the National Weather Service has removed Barbour and Russell Counties from Tornado Watch 257. There are no counties in the Central Alabama area in the Tornado Watch, as the threat for severe weather has now pushed across the state line into Georgia.

At 10:32AM CDT, the National Weather Service has removed Bullock and Pike Counties from Tornado Watch 257. The watch continues in effect for Barbour and Russell Counties until 5:00PM CDT.

Weak surface convergence continues along a boundary across southern Barbour county. Low level circulations were located farther south near Dothan and severe threat looks very low at this time for Barbour or Russell counties. These two counties will likely be dropped from the current tornado watch within the next hour.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch (257) in effect until 5PM for these counties in Central Alabama: Russell, Barbour, Bullock, and Pike Counties.

This includes the cities of Eufaula, Phenix City, Troy, and Union Springs.
