Strong Storms Impacting Parts Of Etowah & St. Clair Counties

At 10:50 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Steele, or 7 miles west of Rainbow City, moving northeast at 25 mph. Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include…
Gadsden, Rainbow City, Hokes Bluff, Attalla, Glencoe, Ashville, Sardis City, Steele, Walnut Grove, Reece City, Tabor Road, Aurora, Ballplay, Gadsden Mall, Noccalula Falls, Southside, Ridgeville, Alabama International Dragway, Gadsden Steam Plant and Mountainboro.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
