Update on Our Line

| January 10, 2009 @ 6:26 pm | Reply

A line of intense showers and storms (hard to call them thunderstorm since there is not much lightning) is along the Jefferson Walker County line at this hour.

It extends northeast into Cullman and Marshall Counties. Some heavy rain is over Blount into Etowah County.

To the southwest, the line extends through the city of Tuscaloosa to near Eutaw and Livingston.

Expect some strong gusty winds with the line. The tornado threat has decreased but can’t rule out a brief spin up with the stronger cells in the line.

An areal flood advisory has been issued for Jefferson, Walker and Blount Counties due to the heavy rains.

The cold front is right behind the line. The temperature at Columbus has dropped to 52F already.
