An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

WARMER DAYS: Not much change in our thinking through the weekend. The big news is the warm-up in the short term; we will reach the mid 50s today, with mid 60s likely tomorrow. Our weather will stay dry for the next 36 hours; lots of sunshine today followed by a partly sunny sky tomorrow.

THE WEEKEND: A surface boundary will bring the chance of some light rain at times on Saturday. I still figure rain totals will be around 1/4 inch, so no big rain event. Just be aware that a few periods of light rain are likely. Sunday, the boundary slips down to Montgomery and stalls out; the best chance of rain by then should be over the southern half of the state. Looks like highs over the weekend will be generally in the 50s.

NEXT WEEK: Most of the state should be dry Monday through Thursday; seasonal temperatures are expected Monday and Tuesday with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. We warm into the 60s on Wednesday and Thursday as a nice southerly flow becomes established. A significant rain event is possible at the end of the week; Thursday night and Friday, with a sharp wave moving in from the west. The latest model data really doesn’t show any Arctic air involved with that system.

INTO THE LAND OF VOODOO: Watch the Weather Xtreme video and you will see the NAO indeeds flips back into negative territory in early February, so you have to figure we turn colder again at some point in the next 10 to 15 days.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.

TWITTER: Don’t forget, you can follow our news and weather updates from ABC 33/40 on Twitter here. And, my personal Twitter feed is here if you want to keep up with my adventures in life. Twitter is a short messaging service you can receive via the web, cell phone, or IM.

Today I am on the road to East Alabama; I will be doing a weather program at Wellborn Elementary in Calhoun County near Anniston. I will be back in the office by early afternoon, and the next Weather Xtreme video should be posted by 3:30 or so. Enjoy the day!
