All is quiet.

A small area of showers has developed over NW Alabama well ahead of everything else. They were mainly west and NW of Jasper and north of Fayette north into Winston, Franklin and Colbert County.

Moving NE quickly toward Moulton and Decatur.

Mostly light. Little or no lightning return.

The main thing to watch is a long thin line of showers from West Tennessee all the way down the west side of Mississippi into SE Louisiana. Nothing severe at the moment. In fact the last warning along that line was around 4 this morning and there is now very little lightning.

But it will grow strong again. The line should reach West Alabama by say about 10 this morning, the Birmingham area mid-day and over into East Alabama by mid-afternoon.

Damaging straight-line winds from thunderstorms maybe our main thing to watch. Can’t totally rule out a tornado.

We will be here all day and tonight.

The Storm Prediction Center has been flip-flopping a bit on the projected severe weather threat for Alabama. For much of yesterday, all of Alabama was under a slight risk for today. Latest outlook this morning has North and Central Alabama under a slight risk from about Montgomey northward.
