Not Too Bad Out There At Midday… For A Monday

| January 29, 2018 @ 12:36 pm

At 12:15 PM, skies are absolutely clear across all of Central Alabama, and temperatures are warming up nicely. We were ranging from the mid-50s in the north to the mid-60s in the south. Birmingham was at 57 degrees, while Eufaula was reporting in as the warm spot at 65 degrees. Haleyville was the cool spot at 54 degrees. Winds at this point are not that bad, but those will be expected to become quite breezy later today and through the overnight hours, thanks to a cold front that will start moving through the area. At this point, the cold front is just now entering the northwestern corner of the state.

We are already pretty close to our daytime highs, maybe climbing another degree or two before topping out in the mid-50s to the upper 60s from north to south. For tonight, the cold front will be through much of Central Alabama and those temperatures will drop and winds will continue to pick up. No rain involved with this front, but we can see winds out of the north-northwest in the 10-15 MPH range and gusting to over 20 MPH at times. Overnight lows will be in the mid-20s to the lower 30s.

The good news is that Tuesday will be another beautiful day across Central Alabama. The bad news is that temperatures will be around ten degrees cooler than Today. Winds will still be relatively breezy throughout much of the day, but will finally begin to slacken up during the evening. Afternoon highs will be in the mid-40s to the lower 50s, with overnight lows in the mid to upper 20s.
