Evening Look at Alabama’s Weather

| February 14, 2009 @ 8:59 pm | Reply

Skies cleared over Central Alabama this afternoon as drier air flowed into the state behind an upper level disturbance. Rain continued over far southern Alabama through the day.

But clouds will increase again over central sections of the state overnight as a second disturbance passes through. Rain and some thunderstorms were increasing over eastern Texas and Louisiana this evening. This precipitation will move southeastward, overspreading South and South Central Alabama overnight. Some of the showers will also work their way into North Central Alabama overnight.

Temperatures are settling into the 40s under the currently mostly clear skies. Lows will drop into the lower 40s.

North Central Alabama will start off cloudy in the morning, with a few showers around. Further south, over South Central Alabama, rain will be more widespread. It will end from the west during the day.

Skies should clear during the day across Central Alabama.

Monday will mostly sunny and cool. Tuesday will see moderating temperatures. Rain will return late Tuesday night and we will see a threat of severe weather on Wednesday. Thursday will be much colder with highs likely remaining in the 40s. We will see a solid freeze Friday morning and again Sunday morning.
