A Little Nicer Out There At Midday In Central Alabama Compared To Wednesday

| March 22, 2018 @ 1:51 pm

Check On Our Conditions At 1:40 PM

That is correct… We have maximum sunshine with warmer temperatures and a little calmer winds than what we were experiencing just 24 hours ago. Temperatures are currently ranging from the mid-50s in the north to the lower 60s in the south. Birmingham was sitting at 57 degrees, Gadsden was the cool spot at 54 degrees, and Tuscaloosa is the temperature champion coming in at 63 degrees. Winds are still out of the northwest but the speeds are no where near as strong as Wednesday, averaging 5-10 MPH at this point.

Weather For The Rest Of Your Thursday

We’ll continue to have mainly sunny skies across Central Alabama throughout the remainder of the afternoon and into the early evening hours, with closer-to-normal temperatures and lighter winds. Afternoon highs will top out in the lower to mid-60s from north to south, and winds will begin to weaken to around 3-6 MPH out of the northwest. Clouds will begin to increase across the north and northwestern parts of the area, while the rest of Central Alabama will stay clear throughout the late night and overnight hours. Lows will dip down into the upper 30s to the lower 40s with nearly calm winds.

Warmer With Clouds On Friday; More Clouds Late

High pressure builds in over the northern Gulf of Mexico just south of Panama City Beach, and that will begin an increased flow of warm and moist air across Central Alabama on Friday. There will be a front that will try to push its way into the area but will get hung up and stall out on Friday evening. Skies will be partly cloudy throughout the southern half of Central Alabama, with partly to mostly cloudy skies in the north. I believe we stay dry throughout the entire day, but a few scattered showers are possible just north of the area. Highs will be warmer, making it into the lower 60s to the lower 70s. The extra cloud cover over the northern half of Central Alabama will slowly work its way southward throughout the late night and overnight hours, but rain will stay north of the area. Overnight lows will be in the upper 40s to the lower 50s.
