Strong Storms Continue To Push Eastward Through Parts Of Elmore, Randolph, Tallapoosa, Cleburne, & Clay Counties

At 4:59 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Delta to near Blue Ridge. Movement was east at 25 mph. Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.

Therefore a Significant Weather Advisory has been issued for eastern Elmore, Randolph, Tallapoosa, southeastern Cleburne, and eastern Clay counties until 6:00 PM.

Locations impacted include…
Alexander City, Wetumpka, Tallassee, Dadeville, Lineville, Ashland, Camp Hill, Wedowee, Lake Wedowee, Eclectic, Jacksons’ Gap, New Site, Wadley, Ranburne, Woodland, Goldville, Martin Dam, Santuck, Corinth and Hillabee Creek.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
