Dry For Now At Midday; Few Showers By The Afternoon

| April 24, 2018 @ 11:24 am

At 11:20 AM on this not-so-bad Tuesday morning, we have mostly cloudy skies and mild temperatures ranging from the lower 60s in the north to the lower 70s in the south. Eufaula is the warm spot at 71 degrees, while the cool spot of Haleyville is 10 degrees cooler at 61 degrees. Birmingham was at 63 degrees. Radar is free from precipitation at this point, but we can expect to see showers popping up within the next hour or so.

HRRR Simulated Radar from 10:00 AM Tuesday to 3:00 AM Wednesday.

As you can see by the latest HRRR run throughout the remainder of the day and into the early morning hours on Wednesday, a few scattered showers are possible during the late morning through the early evening hours until we lose the daytime heating. Skies will continue to be mostly cloudy for the remainder of the day and afternoon highs make it into the upper 60s to the lower 70s. For tonight, skies will remain mostly cloudy with a few widely scattered showers possible over the northern parts of the area, while the rest will remain dry. Overnight lows will be in the lower to mid-50s.

For the day we like to call “Hump Day,” Wednesday’s weather will be drier with a mix of sun and clouds. Only the northwestern corner of the area will have a very slight risk of a shower or two, while the remainder of Central Alabama will remain dry. Afternoon highs top out in the upper 60s to the mid-70s. Tomorrow night will feature clouds on the increase and showers will mainly be possible over the western half of the area after midnight, but a few isolated showers will be possible in the east. Lows will be in the lower to mid-50s.
